Match Any Color with InstaColor iD
Spotted a color you love on a cushion, a tile or a piece of furniture? Bring it to our store and we'll scan it with the Dunn-Edwards InstaColor iD color reader. In seconds you'll know which Dunn-Edwards color is the closest match, by name and code, ready to sample or tint.
The scan is free and usually takes just a few minutes.
How it works
- Bring your item. Fabric, tile, wallpaper, a paint chip, a piece of furniture: anything with a small flat area of solid color.
- We scan it. The reader uses its own built-in light, so the result isn't affected by the lighting in the room.
- See your match. You'll get the closest colors from the Dunn-Edwards Perfect Palette®, plus coordinating colors that work well with it.
- Take the next step. Order a sample to try at home, or have your paint tinted on the spot.
InstaColor iD or custom color matching?
We offer two in-store services. Here's how to choose:
- InstaColor iD finds the closest existing Dunn-Edwards color. Choose this if you want a named standard color that you can reorder anytime.
- Custom Color Matching creates a formula that reproduces your exact color, in any brand we carry. Choose this when no standard color is close enough. It's free with your paint purchase.

On request, we can give you the measured values for your sample (CIELAB, RGB, CMYK, HEX) along with the ΔE difference between your sample and the matched color.
